Fillings may soon be a thing of the past!<\/span><\/p>\n

Researchers at King’s College have developed a treatment which will be available within 3 years, called “tooth-rebuilding”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Nigel Pitts from King’s Dental Institute says: “The way we treat teeth is not ideal. When we repair a tooth by putting in a filling, that tooth enters a cycle of drilling and re-filling as ultimately, each ‘repair’ fails.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Soon, instead of removing\u00a0decay from the cavity and filling it with amalgam or composite resin – it seems ‘electrically accelerated and enhanced remineralisation’ will speed up the natural movement of calcium and phosphate minerals into the damaged tooth.<\/span><\/p>\n
