Instagram Nametags

 

 

Instagram are reportedly looking to launch a new feature called ‘Nametags’ which will allow users to create their own unique and customisable code that can be scanned to connect you instantly to a user’s profile.

Although impressive, it is a long overdue feature because Snapchat and Facebook messenger have been using QR style codes for several years now. The question is whether Instagram can encourage users and brands to make full use of them.

Brands could capitalise on ‘Nametags’ by further promoting their presence and adding an interactive element to their promotional materials such as scanning in specific codes to find out information on a product or receiving discounts.
